Wealth Management

Trust. An earned element required in all wealth management relationships. In many cases, we manage all or most of our clients' money, which implies a high degree of trust. It also invests us with a greater fiduciary responsibility, one that emphasizes absolute rather than relative performance. This affects our culture and the way we look at investing. To make sure our clients are comfortable with our perspectives, we devote considerable effort to communicating our thinking. All clients receive a morning and weekly email review and we are available to clients for meetings by phone or face-to-face.

Quantitatively-Based Portfolios

Each portfolio under the management arm of Genesis Asset Management, LLC seeks long-term, tax-beneficial capital appreciation and will invest in common stocks of all sizes that exhibit the characteristics of the given portfolio strategy.

Our broad-based experience has led us to a few key understandings that we stress for clients:

  • We believe that focusing on Index averages is the first step in the wrong direction
  • We do not believe one can time the market
  • We believe an understanding of where to be invested is more valuable than fretting over up or down markets, especially over the short-term
  • We believe opinions often prove to be very expensive
  • We believe you can diversify yourself into mediocrity
  • We believe company fundamentals are critical and work hard to help our client eliminate emotional reactions to investing decisions
  • We believe, and history has proven, that successful wealth accumulation demands patience and discipline

We stress fundamental, statistical analysis of clean, publicly-available filings in order to eliminate as much of the emotional input as possible during the portfolio building process for all clients.

We have found that there are a handful of key metrics from company balance sheets, income statements and cash flows that tend to drive valuations and hence, manage investment risk and capital preservation goals.
